KAWS’ popularity in Asia is unstoppable! While his KAWS Companion sculpture is heading to Mount Fuji following its previous stop in Seoul, Taiwan and Hong Kong, his iconic BFF sculpture is also set to land in Taichung, Taiwan on 15 July.

Debuting in 2016, the bright blue creature BFF has become one of KAWS’ well-known characters. BFF has crossed-out eyes, gloved hands, and oversized ears. The figure is reminiscent of the woolly texture of Sesame Street’s Elmo. KAWS launched a pink plush version of his BFF character in collaboration with Dior and was well-received among celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid etc.

Last year, KAWS launched a limited-edition BFF ‘SEEING’ Figure with LED lights, producing only 250 of them with a price tag of US$12,000 each. One of his large-scale BFF figures is currently on display in Changsha in China, along with his Companion figure.

The organizer has not yet revealed details about the size and design of the BFF figure in Taichung. It is said that the figure will be the only KAWS sculpture in the world which is specifically made according to the size of the exhibition area. If that’s the case, we can expect a gigantic BFF figure in Dali Art Plaza in Taichung.

The exhibition will also present limited-edition collectibles including a 6-inch plush BFF figure. If you want to put it in your collection, don’t forget to save the dates.
