Keep Your Eyes Peeled - New "Bootyboop" Figure and Rug by Dark Humor Artist Joan Cornellà

In celebration of the return of Joan Cornellà, the Spanish artist acclaimed for his dark humor, AllRightsReserved is going to launch the exclusive “Bootyboop” figure and rug, to round up the roller-coaster ride of 2020.

Designed by Cornellà, “Bootyboop” is also seen in the artist’s recent exhibition, “Contemporary Showcase: My Life Is Pointless by Joan Cornellà,” as a bronze sculpture. While you're waiting for your turn to visit the by-appointment-only exhibition, or if your work desk or home could use a bit of sarcasm or laughter, snap up the vinyl figure and rug at 10pm EST on December 20, (or 11am HKT on December 21), before they are all gone.

The Barcelona-born artist is known for his uses of eyebrow-raising satire to comment on the bleak side of human nature as well as a range of social and political themes.

“It seems this surreal black humor resonates well with the times we live in. Although, as I always say, I’d like my work to speak for itself, and I hope to keep interpretations as open as possible to allow for some sort of critical thinking,” said Cornellà, as he sat down with our team last week.

Jumping out of his signature comic strips, Bootyboop is one of the most instantly recognizable characters on the artist’s social media platforms, which attracted nearly eight million followers. The cheek-splitting grins (pun intended) are on the face of the character, in his bright yellow suit, and his behind.

The releases will be available globally on DDT Store online, with the Bootyboop Vinyl Figure priced at HK$1,560 and Bootyboop Rug at HK$2,980.

Earlier this year, the artist also collaborated with AllRightsReserved, in launching the K-LOVE sculptures, depicting the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Despite the hefty price tag of US$11,000 (HK$85,270) each, for the bronze iteration, all the limited-edition figures were rapidly sold out as soon as they were released.
