Sotheby's New York│Saturday Sale│White Jade Moon Flask

March 18 is the last day of Sotheby's New York's Asia Week 2017, and the last auction is "Saturday at Sotheby’s: Asian Art". This sale features over 500 lots of Chinese, Indian and Japanese art, including paintings and calligraphy, sculptures, snuff bottles and thangkas, and the lots with highest estimates are Chinese jades and furniture.

First comes a white jade moon flask with cover, one side inscribed a poem by Zhao Yan, a poet in the Yuan Dynasty. The other side carved with a scene of a lone boat sailing towards a house raised up on a craggy shore. The second lot is a pair of spinach-green jade table screens, one relief carved with a lone old man fishing by a duck pond, the other depicting the story of the Han dynasty statesmen Su Wu, when he was captured by Xiongnu and forced to herd goats. The reverse of each panel carved with an associated poem and signed apocryphally Qianlong yuzhi, and both panels are raised on cloisonne enamel stands.

There are two lots with the 3rd highest estimate, a Huanghuali side table and two southern elm wood three-rail couch-beds.
