Heavy snowfall is anticipated around most of Eastern New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and the area is expected to recieve 12 - 20 inches of snow today (14 March). The New York City Department of Sanitation has issued a "Snow Alert" that began at 11 p.m. yesterday (13 March) in advance of the storm. Due to the inclement weather, the two big auction houses has decided to close their preview sessions for a day and postpone the sales.
The sales "Fine Chinese Paintings" and "Himalayan, Indian and South East Asian Art" by Christie's, which originally scheduled on 14 March, have now been rescheduled to 15 March, starting at 10am and 2pm respectively.
The sales "Ming: The Intervention of Imperial Taste" and "Inportant Chinese Art" by Sotheby's, which originally scheduled on 14 March, have now been rescheduled to 15 March, starting at 10am and 10:30am respectively. Another Sotheby's sale, "Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art", has also been moved from 14 March 10am to 16 March 10am.
The schedules for other sales of the auction houses remain unchanged. Christie''s "Important Chinese Art from the Fujita Museum" sale will still be held on 15 March at 7pm.
