Sotheby’s Just Privately Sold 99 of the World’s 100 Rarest Sneakers to Collector Miles Nadal for US$850,000

Sotheby’s has teamed up with Stadium Goods to offer 100 rarest sneakers ever produced at an online auction Ultimate Sneaker Collection which was originally scheduled to be held from 11 - 23 July. The auction house announced that 99 of 100 pairs offered have been sold privately for US$850,000 to Canadian entrepreneur and collector Miles Spencer Nadal.

The auction features a selection of the most prized footwear from Stadium Goods’ famed Trophy Case which includes the most exclusive and coveted sneakers ever produced by Nike, Air Jordan, Adidas, Yeezy and more, spanning over 15 years of the most sought-after, limited edition drops in sneaker history.

Miles Nadal bought 99 pairs of the entire collection of 100, except the 1972 Nike Moon Shoes since the consignor preferred to keep the property available in public auction. The pair of shoes, estimated at US$110,000-160,000, will remain open for bidding until 23 July.

The Moon Shoe was designed by Nike's co-founder and Oregon University track coach Bill Bowerman in 1969. He created this waffle sole traction pattern by experimenting with this wife’s waffle iron by pouring rubber into the mold. This became the brand’s first prototype and the waffle sole became its first of many innovations.

Miles Nadal, the founder and Executive Chairman of Canadian private equity firm Peerage Capital, plans to display the sneaker collection at his 94,000-square-foot Dare to Dream Automobile Museum in Toronto Canada, alongside his extensive collection of classic cars.
