The recently launched K11 Jason Freeny Asia XXRAY Experience Store sees new additions of larger-than-life Cookie Monster from Sesame Street, One Piece character Luffy and more.
“K11 OUTSIDE IN: An Unconventional World of Art Toys” is the New York-based sculptor and toy designer’s first and most comprehensive showcase in Hong Kong. Renowned for his anatomical take on fan-favorite cartoon characters, Freeny presents over 100 sculptures and art toys in town this time.
As visitors make their way into the experience store at K11 Art Mall atrium, they’re instantly greeted by the anatomized XXRAY Cookie Monster sculpture standing next to the three-meter tall XXRAY Elmo (Snow Edition). Also not-to-be-missed is the Dissected POPek, a squatting balloon dog, designed by London-based artist Whatshisname.
A retrospective of Freeny’s masterpieces from his early works to rarely seen computer graphics and behind-the-scenes is also on display, allowing each visitor to delve into his creative process behind the characters.

Jason Freeny, American sculptor and toy designer
The creative brain behind the anatomical characters, Jason Freeny, is an industrial designer-turned artist, known for his signature exploration of the innards of fun characters. In 2015, Freeny started teaming up with Mighty Jaxx to produce limited-edition toys based on his works, to provide direct lineage from his sculptures to collectibles in meticulous details.
“It all comes apart and it clamshells back together like the Visible Man. These take a while as far as engineering goes, having pieces to fit inside pieces etc, but this is kinda like my dream comes true,” said the American sculptor in one of the interviews.
