Chimei Museum in Taiwan Launches 720° Virtual Tour Showcasing Its Proud Collection

Chimei Museum in Tainan is the most comprehensive museum in Taiwan, which prides itself on its wide collection of Western art, musical instruments, weaponry and natural history. The museum wows visitors with its spectacular exterior and breathtaking view in the outdoor area, for it has always been a popular spot for photo taking. To provide better viewing experience, the museum created a video showing an aerial view of the museum earlier. Recently, it has introduced a new service “720° Virtual Tour” revealing its exquisite collection online.

A few months ago, Chimei Museum partnered with Google street view team to take images inside and outside the museum. To make the viewing experience more user-friendly, the museum has improved the service by launching an advanced version added extra exhibition areas and descriptions on artworks.

To get more information by clicking the button “i” in the circle next to any exhibits.

Visitors can take a close look at all exhibits, which are not kept inside glass boxes or blocked with barricades. To guarantee a pleasant and safe tour for each visitor, photographs are not allowed in the museum to prevent any accidental damage during photo taking. The museum sets a quota of maximum visitors each day to ensure the museum is not overcrowded. It is therefore possible that visitors will not be admitted without making an appointment online in advance. Virtual tour lifts the restrictions of time and space by allowing visitors to appreciate the exhibits and take photos as they like.
