The annual Hong Kong China International Tattoo Convention is here again. This event features almost 270 top tattoo artists from all over the world and talents from the music industry. This year they have invited guests like the Japanese band The Aniki Band, LMF, Qiu Hong and Jun Kung to perform, going to bring the event’s atmosphere to its peak.
The expo has always been regarded as the most established and representational event in the tattoo world. It provides a platform for tattooists worldwide to cross paths, acquire knowledge and skills from each other, showing the world the tattoo industry’s potential for development in Hong Kong. Besides the most anticipated tattoo contest, there will be a suitcase tattooing competition happening for the first time this year. The organiser has invited four top artists – Robert Hernandez from Spain, Bez and Max Titanic from England and Shibuya Horimasa from Japan to participate in the game.
They will be doing tattoo paintings on Panum Rover suitcases and the audience will vote for their favourite design. The winning suitcase will be mass-produced and sold. Miss Tattoo Hong Kong is also another showdown that is taking place for the first time in the convention. It re-establishes the idea of beauty, exhibiting the charm of tattoos on women.
Aside from exhibitions, you can also learn about the history and development of tattoos at the exhibition. Supported by many artists and international cooperations, the event is a terrific chance for tattoo lovers to get together. All exhibitors have to be approved by the organiser, making sure that their levels of hygiene is up to international standards and their tools and products are genuine.
The 6th Hong Kong China Tattoo Convention is co-organised by Freedom Tattoo from Hong Kong and TDL China. It is the first time for Freedom Tattoo to collaborate with an organisation outside of Hong Kong, helping to promote local tattoo cultures and artists to other places in the world, providing a broader platform for tattoo enthusiasts to get in touch with one another.
