Eddy Li’s Belt and Road: First Book of a Chinese Photographer Published by National Geographic

Hong Kong entrepreneur Dr. Eddy Li is going to launch his latest’s photo book entitled Belt and Road in a namesake exhibition where all proceeds will benefit charity. It is the first book of a Chinese photographer to be published by National Geographic.

Ever since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed, Dr. Eddy Li, a passionate photographer, has been traveling to China, Central Asia, Western Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa, using art to record the culture, lifestyle, landmarks and markets of these countries.

Inspired by the eponymous initiative, the new publication contains more than 500 pages and over 800 photographs, exploring the market, sceneries and people from these regions through the photographer’s lens. The official launch of Dr Li’s latest photo book will be held in the charity exhibition Belt and Road, which will take place at Sotheby’s Gallery from 11 to 23 July 2018.

Around 30 images featured in the book, accompanied by Dr. Li’s handwritten notes, will be showcased in the exhibition, with all proceeds benefiting the Hong Kong Chinese Arts and Culture Promotion Foundation.

Aside from being a successful businessman with almost 30 years of experience in the watch industry, Dr. Eddy Li is also a renowned photographer. Through his photographs, capturing iconic moments, we are able to embark on a journey of exploration, experiencing local life, admiring undisturbed nature, and witnessing the modernisation of the cities.

Speaking of the exhibition, Dr. Eddy Li said, 'As a fan of photography, I spontaneously want to visit these places, so as to take records of the local customs and sceneries as well as discover business opportunities. In the form of photography and calligraphy, I hope this charity exhibition can present to visitors the culture, lifestyle, landmarks and markets of the Belt and Road countries.'
