August is usually a quiet month for the New York auction calendar, but Christie’s has found a different use for the summer lull: an online sale of works by its own staff.
This year’s Inside Job auction brings together 109 works by employees across the house, from specialists and client service representatives to art handlers, photographers, administrators and product developers. Estimates range from US$100 to US$4,000, with bidding open until 19 August. The buyer’s premium will be donated to Publicolor, a New York non-profit that works with young people through art and design.
