This March, Asia Week New York will be held across major international auction houses.
Christie’s will have seven sales of fine arts – five live auctions and two online auctions. Artworks such as ceramics, Buddhist sculptures, paintings and Japanese and Korean Art are included.
Key highlights include a 11th to 12th century Chinese gilt bronze figure of Guanyin sculpture, a 15th century Tibetan gilt bronze Maitreya Bodhisattva sculpture and Indian abstract painter, Vasudeo Gaitonde’s painting from the late 20th century.

Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg
This is a traditional sale during Asia Week in New York, often led by Japanese woodblock (ukiyo-e) prints. During this season's sale, 20 East Asian Buddhist paintings from the David and Nayda Utterberg Collection will be sold.
David was born in Chicago. After graduating from university, he worked in Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. During this period, he developed a strong interest in Asian Art and became an avid collector.
In 1981, and after returning to San Francisco, David founded a company to run a medical technology and equipment business. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Asian Art Museum and the Seattle Art Museum.
Indian, Himalayan and Southeast Asian Works of Art
Another traditional sale during Asia Week in New York, highlights include a 12th century Indian bronze sculpture of Krishna; and a 15th century Tibetan gilt bronze sculpture of Maitreya Bodhisattva.
South Asian Modern and Contemporary Art Including Works from the Collection of Mahinder and Sharad Tak
A traditional sale during Asia Week in New York, this season features works the Collection of Mahinder & Sharad Tak. One of the most prominent collections of South Asian modern and contemporary artists in North America, the couple were key players in showcasing Indian cultural heritage in the United States.
Sharad started a computer engineering business. The company once provided programming and systems integration services for the U.S. Department of Defence, Federal Aviation Administration and NASA.
Mahinder is a radiation oncologist and a former U.S. military colonel.
Rivers and Mountains Far from the World: Important Chinese Snuff Bottles from the Rachelle R. Holden Collection
Rachelle Holden purchased her first snuff bottle in 1974, finding the art form fascinating as it combined all of the classic forms of Chinese Art: calligraphy, poetry and painting. This live sale features snuff bottles made out of different materials – including glass, porcelain, agate, jade and painted enamel on metal.
Highlights include an extremely rare and important imperial famille rose-enameled glass snuff bottle, Qianlong mark and of the period (1736-1795), formerly from the Zhang Tungyu Collection, Shanghai, as well as a carved black and white jade snuff bottle, Suzhou School, 1740-1850.
Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art
This season’s highlights include a 11th to 12th century gilt bronze Guanyin sculpture, a 17th century huanghuali trestle-leg table and a mid-15th century cloisonne enamel dish.
Rivers and Mountains Far from the World: Important Chinese Snuff Bottles from the Rachelle R. Holden Collection (Online Sale)
This online sale's highlights include a 19th century carved aquamarine snuff bottle and a 19th to 20th century famile rose figural porcelain snuff bottle.
South Asian Modern and Contemporary Art Online
