From the 19th/20th century, an Ottoman Empire silver cup and cover is estimated at US$100 - 200. Ottoman silver is a main category of Islamic silver. The Ottoman Empire, created by Turkish tribes, is also historically known in Western Europe as the Turkish Empire. It was one of the most powerful states in the world during the 15th and 16th centuries. The Ottoman Empire gradually declined in power starting from the late 18th century and the Ottoman monarchy was abolished in 1922 following a Turkish War of Independence (1919-22).


During its peak, The Ottoman Empire accumulated so much wealth that many people were able to afford luxurious artwork made of bronze, silver or gold, leading to the creation of many metalworks.
