Preview of Highlights from Christie’s Hong Kong Spring Sales

In the coming week, Christie’s is going to hold its spring auction in Hong Kong. The Value has taken some great snapshots of some highlights from the sales.  Let’s take a look.

Rebecca Wei, President of Christie's Asia

During the media preview in Hong Kong, Rebecca Wei, President of Christie's Asia, showcased the focal point of the sale – a rare doucai and famille rose ‘anbaxian’ vase, tianqiuping, from the Qianlong period. From the collection of Philbrook Museum of Art, the vase will be offered at its single-lot sale on 30 May. It is estimated at HK$70m - 90m (US$8.9m - 11.5m).

Chi Fan Tsang, Christie's Head of Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art

Chi Fan Tsang, Christie's Head of Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art, introduced the highlights from Three Qianlong Rarities. The leading lot is an enormous blue and white moonflask from the Qianlong period. The flask is skilfully painted in rich underglaze cobalt blue with a large circular panel containing an agricultural scene on each side. On either side of the neck are bat-shaped handles each one holding a lingzhi fungus of immortality in its mouth. The moon flask is estimated at HK$60m - 80m (US$7.6m - 10m)
